True or False? French Montana Says That All Lyrical Rappers Are Broke

We have to ask this question due to a comment that French Montana made on the Angie Martinez show that rubbed a lot of Hip Hop heads the wrong way. French was asked to speak about his feelings on the state of Hip Hop and he expressed his take on genre while also discussing Brooklyn newcomer and internet sensation Bobby Shmurda’s skyrocket to fame and fortune. Check out what French had to say below about lyrical rappers and let us know if you agree or not…

It all started when French said this on the Angie Martinez show:

“Hip Hop is at a confused state,”French Montana saysin an interview with New York radio stationPower 105’s Angie Martinez.”I was one of the last people to come out and go big out of New York.Everybody(TM)s like, ~Is it real Hip Hop? this, this, and that. I feel like the hottest new kid that just came out, [Bobby] Shmurda, he sounds like he’s from down south. That’s because we’re doing different things.

Internet sensation Bobby Schmurda from Brooklyn was recently signed to Epic due to the popularity of his YouTube video and his #ShmoneyDance:

“All lyrical rappers I know are broke,” he adds. “The ones that make it an issue. Jay can hop on either/or. Just like I can do either/or. I just feel like you gotta make people enjoy the music.”

I don’t know about that one French. Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Jay Z & J. Cole are just a few lyrical rappers who come to mind that are doing pretty well for themselves. But there are many more non-lyrical rappers who seem to be getting all the shine these past couple years. Do you agree with what French had to say or nah?
